Cal Linear Devices![]() This patented technology offers the motion control industry an attractive alternative to hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical power sources for linear motion control. CLD linear motors are easy to install and integrate. Position and force are fully programmable and there is no backlash or fluid compressibility to compromise position accuracy. ![]() The California Linear Devices motor consists of a shaft that slides inside a stator assembly that contains electromagnetic coils. It utilizes 3-phase, direct drive, brushless technology, High-energy Neodymium-Iron-Boron permanent magnets in the shaft. The stator's length and diameter set the force level, while the shaft length determines the stroke. Standard stroke lengths range from 2 to 24 inches. The motors are capable of up to 1180 lb peak force throughout the stroke length. A motion controller drives the motor to a detailed trajectory of linear motion. A feedback device (e.g. precision encoder) reports motor position to the motion controller for closed-loop motion control. CLD Motor Specs
